Bunnies 33 v 11 Oxford Ladies

An early start to the day with the boys having their squad manager vote. Congratulations to Liam Harty, and also thanks to Liam and Scott for assisting an out of sorts Rowdie on arrival.

Worcester Ladies look to be the most likely contenders in Region 5 at the moment, but player for player, Oxford still look to be the Bunnies biggest threat. With Oxford now drawing their running order from the hat, the traditional order for the Bunnies was changed with the top players more evenly spread.

After the usual ?show me the bunny? Toast smashed the lag four times the length of the table and still ended up near the top rail ? now that?s class lol. What do you mean that?s not allowed? Oh, OK then, not to worry.

The Bunnies started in typically aggressive fashion, taking 3 of the first 4 frames, including scalps from ex-England International Hazel Dabrowski and ex-Warks Wendy Forde, courtesy of Toast and Jodie. No further frames were lost, taking the session out 10-1.

Oxford then seemed to find a little bit of GRRR themselves with only Rowds winning in the first 4 frames of the set. But the Bunnies don?t like losing sets, so pulling themselves together, took 6 of the last 7 frames to take the session 7-4.

Third session, often our worst, saw a cracking 9-2 win, and the Fish starting an 11 point run (where?s that ruler?), with every Bunny winning their frame in succession, woohoo! Kerry Ann Hunt was gifted her frame by the Oxford sub who having sat around for the first 2 sessions, came on and potted the black on her second shot. No Toastie, it really wasn't blindingly hilarious in any way whatsover at all.

Fourth session, the boredom creeping in, saw Griff, Rowdie and Roo comparing cleavage gap by the back door. Harri demanded a recount as she didn?t think it had been conducted properly, and John Hardacre, not sure what was going on, but needed 4 fags to be sure he wasn?t sure. Anyhoo, back to the match, 7-1 up, and on for keeping Oxford in single figures. Jo Coe playing her usual clever pool, outwitted the steady Lisa Hanley, followed by the Griffallo getting herself into all sorts of bother and taking 20 minutes to win a frame she'd won after 5. Then, argh, Oxford took the final 3 frames, Bunnies 33 ? Oxford 11.

One interesting comment from an Oxford player cheering on her own (obviously). 'Come on, she's not as good as she thinks she is.' Believe it or not, this comment was levelled at Emma Cunningham of all people. One of the least arrogant people I know, and gives huge respect to all opponents who to be fair, are generally much sh!tter than she is. She doesn't give the impression she's anything special at all. But then she picks up her bat, and its a different class. Maybe you actually have to know what you're doing to appreciate that. Or maybe the Oxford player was right. I mean current World Masters Champion, current National Champion, current National rankings Champion, Ex-World Champion. Clearly the woman's a bag of crap and has no right to think she's any good at all. Idiot.

Anyway, a couple of niggles aside, Oxford Ladies are a great bunch and a good laugh. This is our biggest defeat of a really decent Oxford side, so a big fat well done to all the Bunnies.

4/4 maximums for Griff and Rowdie. Congratulations to Michaela for her 3/4 and POM, 3/4s also to Toast, the Wookie (yep, 3, this is not a typo), Kerry Ann, Harri and Jo. Toast thanks one particular Oxford player for her kind words, passed via Michaela via Jodie to Toastie. She says ditto, and perhaps you'd like to discuss it over a drink sometime?

Bunnies have now re-taken top slot in Region 5, by a measley one point. Oh, and (Kryten smug mode) a game in hand.

Massive congratulations to the boys, the A team winning 23-21, the B team winning 24-20. Its been a while since we had a clean sweep, GET IN THERE.
