Bucks 'A' versus Worcester 'A' Match Report
Posted by bullet.gif whatafcukinliberty on October 06 2010
Firstly I would like to say that I was impressed to see all our players practicing pre-match and that Worcester were left to practice downstairs, that definitely was to our advantage. Jamie Mc gauley was in Budapest so in stepped Super-sub Ken Riddell and with Ryan Sinclair?s return we still looked to have a very strong squad especially as we have the regions No1 player, Jamie Whittaker.

Onto the first session, the mood was good, spirits were high and hopes of a region title on most people?s minds. First off for the Bucks were Dan ?the disher? Morgan and Terry Davidson, both played well in their respective games and won well. Jimmy Wharton and Mark McGauley next, Jimmy?s up and down form has been difficult to predict but thankfully the good Jimmy turned up and made a great clearance to win his game quickly followed by another great clearance from Mark. That left the Bucks 4-0 up, as quick as we got the lead we then lost the next 4 to leave the match all square. Steve Appleby stopped the mini comeback by taking the 9th game in impressive style but then Worcs took the last 2 to nick the session 6-5, not the worst start for the Bucks and it was all to play for going into the second session.

This time Dan and terry were not so lucky and both lost the opening frames with Jimmy and Mark responding in kind by winning both of their games, 8-6 down. Super sub Ken went on next but was proving to be a difficult day as he lost his 2nd of the day. Bucks then went mental and won the next 5 games thanks to Ryan Sinclair, Neil Goodyer, Stuart Douglas, Steve Appleby and Jamie Whittaker. Good finished from both Jamie and Steve. Worcs went on to win the last game of this session meaning the Bucks won this session 7-4 and with an overall lead of 12-10, good stuff.

Third session and the first 2 games were shared, our win coming from Disher Dan Morgan with some excellent play. Terry lost the next but we went on to win the next 3 thanks to Jimmy (random drug test) Wharton, Ken (I just showed up) Riddell and Mark Mc Gauley. Ryan Sinclair lost the next although he had not much luck for most of the day then Bucks hit a FOUR thanks to Neil, Stuart, Steve and Jamie Whittaker, all playing steady methodical pool all day. Bucks lost the last game of the session, Peter Lee being the victim of some Worcs luck. This meant we took this session 8-3 and increased our lead to 20-13, a session to go and needing only 3 games to secure a great win over last year?s regional winners.

Last session and again Dan started us off but unluckily lost leaving himself 50% for the day. Terry Davidson next and he was playing for his 50% which he got with a good clearance, taking us one game nearer to the win. Jimmy Jams next going for 4/4, Jimmy played well all day with 2 good clearances but this game took a little longer with a couple of misses from both players but Jimmy dug in and took the win giving him 100% for the day, well done Jimmy. Mark next and also going for 4 from 4, looking in charge for most of the game Mark then ran out of position on his final ball and opted for a cross double which he missed. That was it for Mark in this game as the worcs player then took control and won the game but it was another great performance from Mark and a great 3 out of 4. This left us 22-15 up. With Ken playing his seniors game we had to skip him and move on to Ryan and Neil; Goodyer. Ryan continued with his run of bad luck, nothing was going right and he eventually lost his 3rd game of the day, giving him a disappointing 1 out of 4 but this man is good so watch this space. Neil Goodyer up till now was having a disappointing season by his standards but his form was returning and true to it, smashed up the worcs player to take Bucks over the winning line. The cheers could be heard from the car park and nothing was taking that big grin of Neil?s Face. Neil had his best match so far this season with a fantastic 3 from 4 for the day. Supersub then returned fresh from his seniors win and promptly did the same for the ?A? team, well played Ken, another steady day and a 50% for the day. The last four games went to the mighty Bucks thanks to Stuart Douglas 3/4, Steve Appleby with a superb 4/4 and a much deserved man of the match, well played Steve, Jamie Whittaker who has played solid all season for us and continued that run with another fantastic 3/4 and Peter Lee who had a bad day at the office but managed to nick his last game for 1/4 . This meant the session was won by Bucks 8-3 and giving us an overall win of 28-16, absolutely amazing stuff considering we were playing last year?s winners.

I would like to say that if this season has taught us anything, it?s that we are capable of beating anyone and I hope we all take that form to Yarmouth.
Next game is on 14th November, away to Oxfordshire and is arguably the most important game of the season for us. What we don?t need though is to think too much about it, just turn up and play as well as I know you all can and let?s take this region to the last game.
Worcester ?B?s have not lost in a long while and an under strength Bucks ?B? side took them to the wire losing 23-21. I watched a few of the games near the end and could not believe the lucks Worcs were having. Nick Timms having a fantastic day with a 4/4 along with Liam Harty with Liam taking the man of the match..... hmmmmmm lol.
The ladies won their game 27-17, yes that?s right, we outscored the Bunnies. IN YOUR FACE BUNNIES. Congrats to Toastie for her player of match with a great 4/4.
Keep up the good work Bucks, see you all in Oxford.
