Northants Mens 'A' Versus Bucks Mens 'A' ~ Match Report!

As David said, the hardest of starts to the new season against the regional champs.. After a team building and moral lifting chat and introducing new players such as Chris wiiloughy, Mike Chappell and the return of Dan Morgan to name a few, we got down to the task at hand.

The mood was great, noise levels high, the game started with Stuart goin on 1st alongside peter lee. Games were shared with a win from Stuart, with wins from Paul Anderson, Chris Lee, Sean Gourley, Steve Appleby, Dan Morgan and Tony Haggarty we raced in to a first session 7-4 lead. The whole team were buzzing at our incredible start.

Second session went to northants with a 7-4 and wins form Terry Davidson, Stuart, Steve and Dan, although not the 2nd session we wanted we were extremely happy to be dead leavel half way through the match against the champs...

3rd session could not have been any tighter with northant just edging a 6-5 win, we would have preferred to have won the session but at the end of the session we found ourselves only one frame behind and with a realistic chance of taking the win..

Unfortunately for us we lost the first 5 games of last session putting the home team on 22 needing only one more frame for the match, i myself went on sixth and gave us a bit of hope with a good win... But in a shock last session we were not to win another frame and sat there looking at a 10-1 loss. It could not have been a worse session for us after taking them to the wire in the previous 3 sessions...

With a final result of 27-17 to northants you could be right to think that we were disappointed but there are a lot of things we can take away from this match. Firstly, for me, i think we could have easily won that match. Secondly, we were a few players down with the likes of Lian Harty and Mark mc Gauley, who will be returning shortly. Thirdly, team spirit and support was the best it has been for years and we can definately walk away from that game with our heads held high and a great feeling of pride at giving ourselves that chance to take the champs down... If we play like that in every other match then i will predict good things for the 'A' squad and i look foward to not only the next game against Glous but the return leg against the champs...
So congrats to everyone in bucks for playing as well as they did. A welcome return for Dan Morgan to the county 'A' team with a brilliant 3 outta 4.. Keep it up Dan. Also welcome to all the newcomers into all squads, lets make it a buckin good year. Well done to the 'B' team who just missed out with a 24-20 defeat, again, plenty to work with and a great effort from Davids team

A massive congrats goes to the Bunnies for recording a massive 34-10 destruction of northants ladiesclap 4 in a row it is then :)

Finally i would like to say to all that if we keep up those kind of performances then its gonna have to take a superb team to beat us so i shall see you all nice and early at the Herald so we can record our first win this season.. Up the bucks :) :) :)
