Bucks Mens 'B' versus Gloucs Mens 'B' ~ Match Report!
Posted by bullet.gif Barlow on February 10 2009
Some difficult decisions had to be made before the start of this first home match of the season as there were 25 players available. Who was in the A?s and who was in the B?s? Without squad manager Dan there, the decision was made to go with the same line-up as the Northants game with Liam Harty coming into the A?s and Peter Lee moving to the B?s. The rest remained the same with Terry Steventon, Dean Mills and Jason Williams, who were not available for the first game, as subs. The squad looks good with quality players like these waiting for their chance.

The match started off even with the B?s exchanging frame for frame wins with Gloucs. Jimmy Wharton, Peter Lee, Dane Tuttlebee, Scott Rutter, Chris Willoughby and Jon Loveday on the mark to put the B?s 6-5 up after a very close first session.

The second session saw Gloucs edge in front with only Jimmy Wharton, Peter Lee, Dane Tuttlebee and Daren White managing to chalk up wins. 7-4 to Gloucs and 12-10 overall.

In a very close third session, again frames were exchanged 1 for 1 with Jimmy Wharton, Peter Lee, Mike Chappell, Scott Rutter, Franco Marsala and Daren White winning for the B?s 6-5 for the session and 16-17 to Gloucs overall.

It was looking ominous for Bucks as Jimmy Wharton lost for the first time in the day to put Gloucs 18-16 up, then the B?s reeled off 7 frames on the bounce with noise levels reaching Bunny proportions. Terry Steventon, Peter Lee, Mike Chappell, Dane Tuttlebee, Scott Rutter, Chris Willoughby and the winning frame from Franco Marsala put the match beyond Gloucs? reach at 23-18. Gloucs won the last 3 frames to put the final score 23-21 to Bucks.

A great fight back in the final session as the team rallied with terrific support as we sensed a comeback was on the cards.

A very deserved Player of the Match award for Peter Lee?s perfect 4/4 with special mention also to Jimmy Wharton, Dane Tuttlebee and Scott Rutter for recording 3/4 wins.

Bucks B?s recorded their first win of the season and also a clean sweep for the 3 Bucks teams. More difficult decisions will have to be made next game, which can only be a good thing which reflects the strength and depth we have in the squad now.

Bring on Worcestershire on 22nd March.
