Worcester Ladies 17 v 27 Bucks Bunnies
Posted by bullet.gif Rowdie on September 29 2009
Pre-match entertainment came in the shape of bunny wrestling. Predictably, Toastie emerged victorious with Rowdie, spitefully injured by Jo Coe and Chinny, coming out the surprise weakling of the Buns.

Worcester are a good side with several top drawer players. Traditionally they have given the Bunnies some of their hardest matches, but seem unable to put up the same resistance against other teams. Anyway, with that in mind, the Bunnies were expecting a fight, and they got one.

The Wookie kicked off, taking the full minute to play a frame winning safety shot to defeat Worcesters 3rd best player (lmao, you reading this Becks?). Wins from the Fish, Michaela, Gobby and Sonia took the Bunnies into a 5-0 lead, a dip towards the end leaving the first set 7-4 to the Bunnies.

Then, the post-lunch slump set in. Set two alternated, with Worcester just edging it 6-5, to inflict the Bunnies second set loss of the 2009 season. For those who cannot cope with simple addition, this equates to the Bunnies leading 12-10.

Worcester continued to pile on the pressure, and half way down set three, drew level at 14-14, OMFG. Urgent whispers, and bans on less than 9 Bunnies being further than an 8 foot radius from the table at any one time, saw the Bunnies revive for the rest of the session, edging it 6-5, 18-15 overall.

The final session had the Bunnies stomping in their usual manner (shame we left it so late) taking the set 9-2. Overall match score, same as the home fixture, 27-17.

Probably the first match we?ve had with no maximums - Emma, Michaela, Toast, Sonia, Ruth, Kerry and Lisa all scoring 3 /4. After losing only her 2nd frame of the season, with an awesome record of played 36 won 34, the Wookie finally won player of the match. Suspect that?s probably so she carries on trotting out for Evesham when she?s on BBC residential training and not because she's actually any good lol. Still no POMs for Toast or Rowds, but they're both a bit crap and no one likes either of them anyway.

Worcester?s Deb Farr won POM for the only 4/4 of the day, with a special mention to Kirsty Shepherd whose two scalps of the day consisted of the Wookie and the Gob.

Both the A and the B sides were predictably given a rough ride with Worcester men looking strong contenders to take both the Mens sections for 2009. Congrats to Stuart and John for their respective POMs.

Up the Bucks.
Over and out.
