I had planned to wait for the ?B? report, before submitting this article, but at my age I don?t think I have that long to live. So here goes.

Second, and third, match of the season and it was the first outing for a revitalized Chris (mine?s a Worthies) Willoughby against the Northants ?Eh? and ?B?. After the usual handing out of stopwatches, Toasties endearments and general pleasantries, it was off to the bar. Fellow referee and ex-England Senior Terry Billingham had decided to take responsibility for running the two No-thanks teams (?and if they don?t like it they can go perform an impossible sexual act?) and those that weren?t involved in any other squads settled down in the main bar.

First up was Swillers who, despite his recent contagion, set about demolishing his first opponent. At this point Nix (I?m also a World Champion and in Dave?s team) Bolton appeared, on a sojourn from the B squad, so Chris was once again in action. ?This is the best table here!? said Nix just before he too succumbed to the rejuvenated Swillers (I?m beginning to see a trend with putting World Champs on first). Matches were then played on an ad hoc basis as various players from Bucks and Northants became free. Despite some dodgy refereeing against Hooligan and myself we managed to take the ?B? team 5-4 in the last frame with a creditable 100% from Chris.

This left us three frames to play against the ?A?, all of them against Ant Floyer who would be with us when the Men?s ?A? finished, the scores tied 3 apiece. Ant appeared, along with the news that Bucks ?A? had lost, so Kenny went into action, for a liberal dose of formicide. Bish, Bosh 4-3 to us. Sick-note (Chris) next, seven balls left on the table, 5-4. Last frame, I?m up, not pretty but 6-3, vengeance for the ?A? defeat and not so much Northants, as No-Ants. Finished just in time to catch the last of the ?B? and Ladies frames and buy Koops a birthday drink (?I?ve had shhix?). Thankfully we now have a break until April, to re-cooperate and cast off the thermals.
