SAGA Louts on tour
Posted by bullet.gif BlackBalled on September 27 2010
Just a few weeks after the momentous defeat of the imperious Coffin Dodgers, saw the return leg as the SAGA Louts travelled to Coventry (sick bag for Chris, at the ready).

All arrived, bright eyed and bushy tailed, to find that the opposition had organised a day out to Rhyll for some of its citizens. After a lengthy delay the captain finally proved his mastery of sat-nav by turning up, with the promise that ?Roger is on his way?. Un-willing to protract the proceedings further and keeping with the format that proved victorious last time, Chris played the first game, although second on the team sheet. An excellent outcome because he swept his opponent aside 1-0 with two travel weary oldies to come. More dallying, as ?full? team responsibilities were fulfilled, before Dave and Ken gave us the clean sweep of the first set, 3-0.

Moans from the Warks pentagenarians prompted a change of table and a change of fortunes, with them taking the first two games, in the second set. Dave stopped the rot and put us on the ?hill? at 4-2.

A bit more shilly-shallying ensued, as other games were played out, before Dave lost his third game and Ken potted the Black and Cue ball, in his, prompting an immediate chorus of ?Schoolboy? making me fearful that Ken would be molested by a priest. Four-all, with Chris taking on current international Roger Hunt, Roger to break. Roger wasn?t happy with the crinkly spot stuck on the baize, in the location of the head ball, so he proceeded to scrape it off only to find it was hiding a hole in the cloth. Off to the bar, to obtain a new sticky spot, which he then affixed firmly and racked the balls. A thunderous break saw the balls scattered beautifully for a dish as the white sailed off the table onto the floor. Two visits, open table with only the black tied saw the implacable Swillers calmly stroke in the balls and with a dinky little bounce off the cushion to set up the black 5-4 to the SAGA Louts, much to the dismay of the home team.

So, second place in the Region with a game in hand and the double-header against the Worcester Wobblers (I?ve cleaned that up) to come, bring it on!
