BB MK Tuesday League Rules & Regulations
maria mezza lewis
• The league shall adopt the rules currently used by the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA), also known as Blackball rules
• The following two rules will be excluded from the rules played in this league
o Catching or preventing the cue ball from going into the pocket
o Moving the cue ball with any part of the cue except the tip
• Matches will be played on a Tuesday at 7-30pm
• In the event of a team arriving late the following penalties will be applied:
o 15 minutes late = loss of first frame (1-0)
o 30 minutes late = loss of first set (3-0)
o 45 minutes late = loss of match (8-0)
• Matches should be played on the date given and no later, teams can choose to play their matches by mutual agreement at an earlier date.
• If you are unable to field a team the match will be scored 8-0 to your opponent
• Team consist of minimum 4 and maximum 10 players. Once a player plays 1 frame for a team they cannot play for any other team in the
league until the start of the following season.
• Format will consist of 3 sets of 4
• If a team turns up with only 3 players, then they will lose 1 frame per set as max games per person per match is 3 (shootout excluded)
forfeited games will be the 2nd game in each set.
• Each Captain will write down their players for each set without seeing the opposing teams’ selection, then both captains will confer and
write down the oppositions selection. This is to be done for each set at a time.
• Each player can only play once per 4 frame set, maximum 3 frames per match
• In the event of a 6-6 draw then there will be a penalty shootout.
o Penalty Shootout Rule
 The black ball is placed on its spot at the rack end of the table.
 Player can position cue ball anywhere behind the baulk line.
 Player must pot the black ball, using one shot, to score a goal.
 If the black ball fails to pot, or the white ball is potted or a foul is committed, then the penalty is considered a miss.
 An order of play sheet with only four players must be created and followed.
• Player 1 in shootout will also be player 5 so choose player one carefully, other 3 players in shootout will play in position 2,3 and 4
• If penalty shootout score is a draw after all 5 shots taken, then a sudden death round begins
o Sudden Death Penalty Shootout Rule
 Must follow order sheet of penalty shootout
 The black ball is placed on its spot at the rack end of the table.
 The cue ball is placed on the baulk line, in direct line with the black ball
 Both players must take their shot – i.e. if player one misses, then their opponent must take their shot and pot to win.
 Played to the win
• If a team only has 3 players, then there will be a loss of one shootout per round i.e. -1 in first round of 5 penalties each and -1 for every
four as they would be unable to take a fourth penalty due to having 3 players.
• If a team has played 5 or more players on the night then the Captain will pick out 4 players, player one will take 2 penalties in session 1
therefore taking penalty number 1 and 5, if tied then sudden death as above.
• In the event of penalty shootout, the Captains will nominate a team player to spot the black and hand over the cue ball to their own team
player. If the ball placer is taking a penalty, then the Captain will place the black ball and hand over the cue ball.
• In the event of sudden death penalty shootout, the penalty shootout nominated player will place the black ball and the cue ball. If the
ball placer is taking a penalty, then the Captain will place the black ball and cue ball.
• Winner outright on the night, minimum 7-5 result will give team 3 points
• A 6-6 tie will result in 1 point for each team with a bonus point going to the winner of the penalty shootout.
• Home team will ref 1st game, away team to ref 2nd game and so on till match completion.
• There will be no restrictions to where players live but teams will be based within the usual MK area however, this may be looked at again
at the end of season one and discussed at the AGM.
• Although we will be playing BB rules we are still planning on affiliating with EPA for the sake of those that wish to play for county, this fee
should come from the county set up.
• Matches will be played in the good spirit of the game, any proven incidents of violence or threatening behaviour can lead to a players’
expulsion from the league.
• Venues can be removed from the league if they do no not address any issues concerning violence/threatening behaviour.
• Food shall be provided by the home venue, means of funding this shall be decided by venue/team (normally a football card)
• Any issues will be reported via email to the committee, this will be then looked at from all sides and a decision will be made within 7
days of complaint, this decision is final.

it always looks more complicated when you read them Paul, the first time you do it you will see that it is very straightforward.
These rules and the blackball league will be going ahead even if someone steps in to take over world rules, will just mean 2 different leagues on a Tuesday
cops and who???

megastar

whatafcukinliberty
UPDATE: It is looking very likely that we will have enough teams for 2 divisions which is good for Tuesday night pool...
REGISTRATION NIGHT IS WEDNESDAY 5TH OCTOBER AT THE HERALD SPORTING CLUB BETWEEN 7 AND 9PM
cops and who???

Barlow
There's a mistake in the rules:
"Each player can only play once per 3 frame set, maximum 4 frames per match".

Shouldn't this be "Each player can only play once per 4 frame set, maximum 3 frames per match"?

Your other rules imply 3 sets of 4 frames, not the other way round.
Duvet is no longer my hero. He's rubbish.

whatafcukinliberty
typo by Maria... so i cannot edit... a few lines before error it was stated maximum amount of frames per player per match is 3..
Thanks anyway, will get Maria to change

Tonight from 8pm i will be at the forresters Arms in New Bradwell going over the new rules with the team there. Others are welcome to come down to help you understand the new ruleset..
I will also give up some time the following Tuesday (4th October) from 7pm onwards at the HErald Sporting Club, again this will be to show/demonstrate the rules.
I invite anyone to attend that is unsure of this ruleset.
I will also make the following Tuesday, 11th October from 7pm also at the Herald Sporting Club, please try and attend at least one of these as you will find it very helpful and any questions you have can be answered.

RULE UPDATE

After a long discussion, we have decided to have no more than 3 out of area players per team, we feel this is very generous and will be looked at again at the end of season.
We are trying to promote local pool and nothing more, if by affiliating with EPA has benefits other than helping local county players then that is a plus.
