To all Team Captains and Players,

On behalf of the Milton Keynes Tuesday Pool League, I would like to thank all teams that have made this season a very competitive one and ask if you would re-enter a team for next season which will start on Tuesday 12th May 2009.

One change to notify you of on the committee is that Dean Bunce has now stepped down and the task of updating the League tables and Player rankings falls to me. I?d like to thank Dean for the help he has given me over the past year and I?m sure we would all like to thank Dean for the work he has done for the league over the years.

A couple of rule changes to tell you about. Firstly, the rule that states that ?the 60 second rule will not be applied? will be removed. If the captains decide it necessary to use the 60 second rule during the evening, then they are perfectly entitled to do so as these form part of the World Rules. Although please ensure that the players at the table are aware that the 60 second rule is in force and don?t start implementing it half way through a frame unless everybody agrees.

Result cards will no longer be handed in at the Herald Snooker Club. Captains will now be able to inform us of the match score online. Details of how to do this can be found on the Tuesday League section on www.bucks8ball.com. If you prefer, you can send the scorecard to me at my home address (the address will be on the back of the scorecard) or deliver them to my home personally. Any cards delivered to the Herald will be deemed as late and the usual penalties will apply.

During the previous season, we ran a one day ?scotch doubles? event which we believe went reasonably well. For those unaware, the doubles pairings for the scotch doubles were drawn at random on the day with a higher ranked player being drawn together with a lower ranked player. This season, we will be including the scotch doubles as part of the normal season.

Also this season, we are introducing a 3-man knockout event (call me old school, but a 3-person knockout event doesn?t have the same ring to it). Pick your own team of 3 and over the course of the season you will get drawn against other teams. Each player plays each member of the other team once, the first team to get to 5 frames wins and progresses to the next round.

This season we also have the Singles knockout and the Team Knockout. So a lot going on.

And remember, we are a cash league. All entry fees received are paid out in cash prizes to those that progress well in the tournaments, the league and in the player rankings. Last season, over ?1300 was paid out in prizes.

Entrance fees for this year are:-

Team registration - ?60 (this includes as many players as you wish and entry to the team knockout)

Singles Entry - ?5

Scotch Doubles - ?2.50 per person

3-man team event - ?10 per team

Please find enclosed Team, Player, Singles, Scotch Doubles and 3-man entry forms which need to be completed and handed into the Herald Sporting Club, with full payment no later than Sunday 3rd May 2009. Cheques should be made payable to MK Tuesday Pool League.

All teams must provide a representative to attend the captains meeting on Tuesday 5th May - 8pm at the Herald Sporting club or you will start the season with a 2 point deduction. All teams will also be given their fixtures, rules and scorecards. It?s also an opportunity to ask the League Committee any questions or clarify any other rules.
